An evening run

Ali came home and we headed out running, she imforms me she won't be running in the dark on her own. I knew this marathon was going to be hard work for me! Anyway we did the loop I did on tuesday morning, the difference in running when I'm not trying to do it before breakfast is amazing. Although I still found it hard, the second half was spent just managing to stay on Ali's shoulder. But I like that as it makes me push myself.

5.43miles @ 9:41 min/mile
106m climbed

  1. Ali should join a club, one of the reasons I joined was to run with people on dark evenings, particularly when Jez was away and noone was likely to know where I was of an evening.

  2. I have suggested it, but I think the only way that would happen was if I joined one too. She needs poking to do things and I'm not sure I have the time to commit to something like that. I also know I'm not a good enough runner.

  3. You are a good enough runner, sub 25 5K person!!! Lots of different abilities at clubs and they tend to look after you anyway, at least Chorley certainly do. Just keep dropping it into the conversation!

  4. That was my best moment running ever! I seem stuck at 5k though.

Problem at the moment is ali has worked out training isn't fun so she sees it as something she will do till april and then that's it.

  5. ah! It really isn't the best time of year to acquire enthusiasm and motivation. Can she defer her marathon place if she has too ? I have a lot of mixed feelings about training for the marathon (all that road running, my injury prone self etc) but I think its good I'm really respecting it (chews nails).

  6. Yes she can defer it, but it won't make a difference, I knew it'd be hard work for me. She likes to hibernate in the winter. She will get there though. I mean I managed to get round a marathon and she is naturally a lot better runner.

She is still talking about transwales as well, maybe one day she'll understand how much fun training can be!

  7. I remember when it all seemed to be a slog then eventually it just clicks but you do have to push through it. Jez is suffering a little from this at the minute, he was/is a fast and very strong rider but has neglected riding a lot over the last 18 months but still tries to go at it like he's at full fitness and wonders why he can't. He needs to just get at it and get the hurting phase over with. Still, its good for me, I can keep up easier and out ride him on anything over about two hours (which obviously dents his manly pride, hee hee).

  8. Yes Ali has just got used to the fact I can run as fast as her at the moment, as I am so much fitter! She is always like this I am used to it. It's funny as everyone she works with thinks she does loads of exercise, shows how lazy most of the world is!

  9. On of my New Years resolutions will be to get Jez out on his bike more (until marathon training kills me). Nagging is not my strong point and that's what it feels like I'm having to do but he enjoys it when he gets out there. He's been out with his mate yesterday (hurrah) and has started getting a list of jobs together to get all the bikes up to working standard so fingers crossed.

  10. That is so like Ali, when she comes back she says how much she loved it, but getting her out involves so much effort! I kind of gave up in the last year but now she tells me to nag her as she realises how little she does otherwise.

  11. He used to be the one dragging me out a lot, especially on long hard rides which would totally finish me off (in a good way). I'm returning the favour even if he won't see it that way initially.

  12. Ahh but keeping him a bit unfit surely has advantages ;)
