Due to not being alble to get to the cross race in Manchester this weekend due to working I decided to head over to Liverpool to race there. This was a bit of a change for me as last year I only did the races close enough to ride to. Yes Liverpool is close enough to ride to but with the tired legs I have riding back would be too much! My sister had kindly offered me a lift but due to a change of plans Ali came over too.
The course was so dry, my bike was still clean at the end! But there were a fair amount of places where you had to get off your bike. With a tight gate to squeeze through, some hurdles and some vertical slopes it was going to be hard.
I thought I had a good start till I realised there was hardly anyone behind me! It was a small field though so I assume that everyone there was a highly tuned athlete! After that I made steady progress, although looking at my stats I was lazy in the middle third of the race, noone near me to try and hold on to, need to work on that one!
I really liked the course, with the mix of singletrack and fields, but it was a short lap and I'm glad the field wasn't any bigger! As it was the leaders lapped me three times!
I finished 2nd female, 1st female was once again flying I think I need to do some specific training to get anywhere near her!
We waited for the prize-giving wondering where everyone was, turns out they were going to send prizes out, so I still have no idea if there is a prize for 2nd female or not!
As always Ali took loads of photos, they're
here!
Seems you had a good day, well done, nice pics, and seems you had better weather then than round Rivi, which was very cold and dull all day.
ReplyDeletei know this a really girly lame comment Amy, but I love your outfit...
ReplyDeleteWell done! I like the Cooksons kit, very smart.
ReplyDeleteCookson cycles? Does this mean you have your sponership?
ReplyDeleteI new the moment you told me you were resting this weekend what you actually meant was "I'm racing and finishing on the podium in CX"
Richard Worth the trip then, rivi seems to be constantly surrounded by bad weather!
ReplyDeletePP Why thank you, brand new and I like it, will pass on comments to cooksons as well!
Jumbly Thanks, I was worried about green kit but it is great!
Red No same nice cooksons as always, they spoil me rotten, fix my bikes when I break them and are so great they gave me some free kit! Oh and I said I was probably doing the cross but I had no car, as it turns out I had the car. Which was nice as I could drive to work today!
looking really pro! ...i'm starting to get a really strong urge to try 'cross...
ReplyDeleteI raced about 5 events last year on my mountain bike so do it! It would suit you the mix with running!
ReplyDeleteThat looked like it was a long hard/push carry! Wouldn't have fancied that at all. Short and sharp carries are more my thing :)
ReplyDeletewell done, glad the kit looks good!
ReplyDeleteShaun
Simon I don't like anything that gets me off the bike, then I am so slow!
ReplyDeleteShaun You should like the kit! But it is lovely had loads of comments!
I seem to catch people on the short steep stuff. It doesn't do my body any good though - my left hamstring, calf and achilles are pretty buggered at the moment.
