Lee quarry

Today I decided to ride lee quarry so last night I plotted a route over there and back. I got out this morning, turned on my garmin and the route wasn't there. I decided just to do something local but within 5 minutes I had changed my mind and was heading through Jumbles (naughty) to Ramsbottom and then over to Rawtenstall, here I rode along the road till I found it. First impressions are good. Although I ended up pushing up the hill! Maybe it is time to try an easier gear? I just rode the red once - ran out of time for anything else after a puncture - and it seemed loads of fun, I rode all the downhill so I was happy.

Back to Ramsbottom along the road and then over the firing range, to the strawbury duck and home for a late lunch.

Nice day for a ride and I missed the rain that came later!

43.01 miles @ 10 mph
1250m ascent

  2. I'm thinking yes! Think it will be a fab challenge. But I can't remember how to ride gears off-road! I just love rig so much!

  3. I've not been to Lee Quarry since they put the trails in but I remember the inital hill to be a bit of a b*gger and I was walking up it at the time, not trying to ride up it. We were heading up to watch some nutters/bike handling gods do a trials competition.

  5. Definitely, though maybe after the marathon. I'm getting to the stage where I really don't want to fall off and interrupt running training, which is hanging on by a thread as it is, so tried and tested trails only for a while.

Did you look at any of the black graded stuff, from my friends description circus skills were required for some of it?

  6. I saw the cliff to ride into the black, looked interesting shall we say, but I was on my own and needed to get home so just rode the red.

  7. Oh no, I'm sending healing vibes her way. She's done the hard work for her race and should be in taper now anyway so rest is good. Got everything crossed for her.

I've been utterly exhausted since Thursday as my mara training finally catches up with me but I seem (touch wood) to have avoided actually coming down with something so far. I may have managed to rest up in time for a change. A short easy run for me again today in the sunshine.

  8. But two weeks of inactivity and counting is not looking good :(

  9. She's not going to lose that much fitness? She has worked really hard. She needs to concentrate on getting better and not stressing about the marathon which is easy for me to say I know.

  10. I've told her that, thing she just down as she thought she was better. But yes she will have lost loads of fitness in two weeks unfortunately!
