Running again

30 days since I last ran, how did I manage that. My good intentions for running once a week seem to have disappeared, it was so easy once I had missed one week to just no get back into it. So I planned it carefully last night, I would get up at 6am eat breakfast and then leave to go running when Ali left for work. It fell down a bit when Ali didn't go to work but I got out even if it was a bit later than planned. After the first mile I stopped to do some press-ups and dips on what looks like a horse jump. Back up to the golf course, another set of press-ups and dips (working on all round fitness) tried to run fast up the steps and nearly killed myself! Then back home. Felt ok considering, now lets hope the legs are ok!

To make myself feel even better I got home and did some core work!

3.61 miles @ 9:25 min/mile
69m ascent

  1. Well done, not bad after 30 days off running. I started doing pressups again recently as they are a fab exercise (and core) but have let it go again , which is naughty of me.

I find pressups so, so hard now, I can just about manage 5 or 6 full pressups which is really pathetic and depressing, when I was doing Tae Kwon Do training I used to be able to bang 50 out like they were a doddle.

  2. I was doing them on benches so easier as the upper body is raised. More fun that just doing them at home, got some odd looks though! But hopefully I'll get back into it!

  3. Ah, good idea. I used to do those kind against the sinks in the ladies loos and chinups (jump assisted) off the doorframes of the loos. Should start again, always interesting trying to explain what your doing when someone walks in!

  4. I can imagine, at least I was outside. In fact I think most people finding running odd to start with!

  5. Hmmmm, we have some bars and rails on the rec opposite the house, in the back of my mind I keep thinking I could do a lap of the park, do some push ups and pull ups and then another lap etc etc. You two may encourage this to move to the front of my mind as an option, of course it may take a while to become something I actually do!

  6. I find it a better way of doing some muscular strength and endurance stuff without needing any kit or going to the gym. I like being outside!

  7. Yeah, I don't really do any strength work, not being a fan of the gym or having anywhere at home to do weights. I was thinking of starting to go to the climbing wall to build some strength.
