Lee Quarry and night ride fail

Yesterday I was working up at Lee Quarry in the afternoon. This time there was no hail, wind and only light rain. The group was a lot smaller than expected so it was a fun afternoon. First we played on the pump track for a while - I need more practice as I had to pedal a little on the way back. Then over to the new skills area, it really is great. I have to get back over there again to explore all the new tracks - we just used one of them!

Tuesday had meant to be a night ride with donk. But as soon as I realised there was a problem! I was pedalling yet going nowhere! Appears the rear hub is a little dead. So Cooksons have now sent it back to Hope, lets hope it is back for Easter as Ali and I have riding plans which might be a problem if I don't have a bike to ride!

  1. What about your geared MTB or borrowing another wheel (though 29ers are still a bit rare).

  2. Probably will have to be geared bike which is annoying as the plan is to race on rigger. I can't think of anyone with a spare 29er wheel!

  4. we'll have to arrange a 'ride in each others back gardens' sometime. the skills area sounds a really good idea

  5. @red the boys at cooksons are onto it, they know I need it! Oh and the next race is the 24solo!

@kate Definetly, although your local rides seem so long! Some people probably would drive between rivi and lee quarry but I am sure you can cope with a long ride!

  7. My 24hr race isnt until the end of May, 22nd. I will need both wheelsets for that. One with big 2.4tyres and one with CX tyres on if it becomes a mud bath.

Just bought a new geared 29er today, (pics next week) although i'm planning on riding most of the 24hrs on the Kona fixed wheel.

  8. What does the skill area look like? Got photos?

Hope you've got the wheel back by Easter. It would suck if you'd miss out on four days of cycling bliss.

  9. No pics since I was working, next time!

If I don't get the wheel back I will just take my other bike, it'll be fine! This is why you always need more than one bike!
